The Late Great Biggeron Lyfe by Daniel H. Debelius, Jr.

BIOGRAPHY OF A POET - I have no idea of who the deceased was. Testimonials turn on themselves, condemnations contradict each other, agenda abounds. You're left in confusion. Thank photography we usually have pictures of the deceased included, for even descriptions physiognomic clash within the pages! My fictional biography is written by a Lyfe worshipper, and written in response to an earlier life-story of the poet {by one Telli Trooth} which is a hostile and disparaging thing, painting Biggeron in colors not suitable for any respectable rainbow. This second presentation of the facts {?} is therefore delivered as a refutation of the earlier, slanderous {?} one. With two biographies depicting, the reader is really left to wonder just what is what, when is when and where is where!

Biggeron Lyfe is a poetaster who has left behind some 1293 rhyming ditties in a collection called "Poetry Owed To Me". Following his controversial death {murder or suicide?} and the responding suicide of the love of his just-concluded life, a very well known songwriter, curiosity over his theretofore-unsought oeuvre burgeons. His "Poetry Owed To Me" goes on to sell millions of copies.

The novel follows Biggeron from the day he was born to the night he met the love of his life. Along the way we meet his maniacally protective mother, Beatrice, who keeps him secluded from the world for 18 years; Beatrice's rock and roll brother, Reginald {Reggie Fatts}; crazy Gertrude, the siblings' mother; and a tutor who accuses Biggeron of rape………..and of also engaging in incest with his mother, the latter causing headlines two separate times. We follow the poet, following his escape from his enforced seclusion, as he bounces from the carnival life to a religious sect, whose members are torn as to his being the son of Satan. We witness the sect's bloody eradication. We re-live the poet's lives as a mob enforcer, a cowboy, and a bar-thief: a cauldron of crazy stuff, stuff which may or may not have actually happened.
